Evolution and history of news and photojournalism

Some things I picked up and learned from the history chapter (ch.17) in the Photojournalism book is how news has evolved greatly; from the invention of the printing press around 1440’s, to the 1990’s when the Internet wires the planet. With so many harsh stops in between, how news is told, and shown, has become one of thee most timeless things in history.
Photojournalism has especially gone through a great evolution. The camera reporter of 1877 evolved into the photojournalist of today. What I love learning the most about the evolution of news and how photography and images have been used is the publics reaction. This reaction could be negative or positive, branching from negativity of war photos of death and destruction, to newfound love of celebrities and politicians like the Kennedys.
Photojournalism no matter how or who views it will always and has always been one of the best tools to tell a story and get your feelings across. It brings meaning to words and opens the eyes of the sheltered.
